DA advert back on air – for now

2014-04-16 20:00

“It’s a victory for common sense,” was DA leader Helen Zille’s reaction after the Icasa’s Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC) granted a postponement to the SABC, provided that the DA’s “Ayisafani” advert is flighted by the SABC in the meantime.

On the second day of deliberations following a DA complaint about the SABC’s decision to pull the advert, the SABC fired the legal team that represented it yesterday.

“I was instructed only this morning that I would be representing the SABC,” said David Andile Horner, who was part of the new legal team hired by the SABC.

He said they had asked the committee for a postponement because they did not have enough time to prepare for today’s proceedings.

CCC chairperson Wandile Tutani said the committee was willing to grant the postponement provided that all DA adverts are shown by the SABC.

The proceedings were postponed indefinitely.
