Designer David Tlale’s year is ending well with two awards under his fashionable belt in the past two months.

Tlale threw a “thanksgiving” party on Friday night to celebrate his Fashion Designer of the Year award at the African Diaspora Awards in New York and his African Icon of Hope Award at the African Fashion Design Week in Nigeria.

“Today I’m not just celebrating my two awards, but I would like to thank everyone who’s been supportive and has run the race with me for the past 11 years,” an excited Tlale said as guests gathered at his studio in Joburg’s Maboneng precinct.

Among those on hand to toast his success were TV presenter and actress Bridget Masinga and choreographer and dancer Gregory Maqoma.

Tlale said this had been a year of new beginnings. He assured his fans that next year would be even better.

“Our vision for next year is to launch David Tlale accessories and to make sure our brand is available locally and internationally,” he said.
