Dewani moved to another hospital

Honeymoon murder-accused Shrien Dewani has been transferred to another mental hospital in the United Kingdom after suffering an adverse reaction to anti-depressants.

The Mirror.co.uk reported today on a judge’s ruling yesterday that the 31-year-old businessman, accused of arranging a hit on his wife, Anni, while on honeymoon in Cape Town, be transferred to Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke in Somerset.

This was after his psychiatrist said he believed Dewani had suffered an adverse reaction to anti-depressants at the weekend.

Dewani, of Westbury-on-Trim, was on bail at the Priory Hospital in Bristol before the court ordered the transfer.

The Mirror.co.uk said the new hospital was better equipped to deal with his condition.

Dewani had initially been out on bail at his family home in Bristol, but SA authorities asked that be taken into custody after an apparent suicide attempt in February.

Dewani is said to be suffering from severe post-traumatic stress after his new bride was shot dead in an apparent fake hijacking, allegedly plotted by Dewani, in November.

His extradition hearing was scheduled to take place next month.
