Nelson Mandela had hours of screen time. Former Constitutional Court Justice Albie Sachs had his moment in the documentary sun.

Now it’s Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s turn because we can never tell enough stories about our struggle leaders.

A feature-length documentary called The Foolishness of God: A Forgiveness Journey with Desmond Tutu chronicles the complex world of forgiveness.

It’s directed by Karen Hayes and she’s promised to take viewers into the belly of the beast as she explores forgiveness through the eyes of Tutu.

Hayes did some of the work on the film, then turned to crowdfunding to raise money to complete the project.

The project is also sponsored by Fractured Atlas, a New York non-profit arts service organisation.

In online reviews, Hayes says her discussions with Tutu and the way he challenged her ideas of justice affected her personal life in a way she had never

imagined.

No details are available about when the documentary will make its debut in South Africa.
