Log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns are hoping to open a five-point gap at the top of the Absa Premiership table when they visit Mpumalanga Black Aces at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit this evening. Kickoff is at 7.30pm.

High-riding Sundowns are top of the table on 21 points after 10 games, two points ahead of second-placed Kaizer Chiefs having played a game less than them. A win over the struggling Mpumalanga side tonight will see Sundowns widening the gap.

Sundowns host Chiefs next Tuesday at Loftus.

Aces have had only two victories in 10 games since their promotion from the National First Division at the end of last season, and pressure is mounting on former Bafana coach Clive Barker to start winning matches.

But Aces have gone five games unbeaten in the league, with four of those ending in draws. They played to a goalless draw away to Bidvest Wits in their last encounter.

Aces take on Sundowns without three influential players who are on loan from the Brazilians.

Method Mwanjali, Abel Mabaso and Themba Zwane, all on loan from Sundowns, will not be eligible to play against their club.

Other fixtures tonight: Bloemfontein Celtic vs Golden Arrows (Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium, 6pm); Moroka Swallows vs Bidvest Wits (Dobsonville Stadium, 7.30pm); Tuks vs Free State Stars (Tuks Stadium, 7.3pm)
