‘Drunken’ MP to face disciplinary committee

2012-07-28 10:03

Congress of the People (Cope) MP Dirk Feldman, who stumbled to prominence following an alleged drunken incident on a flight to India, will face a multiparty disciplinary hearing.

The Saturday Star reported that Parliament decided the matter would be referred to the National Council of Provinces.

The Council said it had been in contact with Cope on the hearing.

Feldman was visiting India earlier this month as part of a parliamentary delegation when he allegedly attempted to open an exit while intoxicated, while the plane was in flight.

Feldman said he would cooperate with the investigation.

Cope Chief Whip Dennis Bloem said Feldman has given the party his side of the story.

They are now awaiting a report from council chairman Mninwa Mahlangu, who was on an earlier flight to India.
