Duduzile Zuma’s big day will evoke romantic Paris

2011-04-02 17:41

Duduzile Zuma will be tying the knot in a lavish Parisian-themed wedding on Good Friday, April 22.

The daughter of President Jacob Zuma, who has become something of a social butterfly after throwing a massive
R400 000 birthday bash in 2009, will be accompanied by five bridesmaids when she walks down the aisle to marry businessman Lonwabo Sambudla at Nkwenkwezi Lodge in East London.

The wedding will be a luxurious affair with each table themed according to something French such as designer labels, goods and cities.

“The wedding is Parisian-themed because the couple love Paris. The catering will be done by the lodge staff, although they have chosen most dishes themselves,” said a source.

The question on everyone’s lips is: What will the bride be wearing?

“She is not being dressed by a designer,” said a source close to the couple. “She bought the dress while she was travelling overseas. It is encrusted with Swarovski crystals and the shoes are a glittery silver pair of Christian Louboutins.”

A special glass marquee has already been erected in the lodge grounds and it will be decorated in rich white linen with a burst of colour in the form of red roses.

Zuma (28) and Sambudla (31), a former Lembede Holdings CEO, met about three years ago through a mutual friend and announced their engagement last September.

Those already confirmed on the guest list include all the Zuma wives, dignitaries and business people.

Because “Dudu has always wanted an intimate wedding with close family and friends, the number of guests has been cut down from 1?500 to 500,” according to our source.

Wedding celebrations will continue on Saturday April 23, when the Zuma family visit the Sambudlas at Umtata’s Fairfield Trust Farm.
