A man has been arrested in Durban in connection with the murders of his wife and two children.

The 44-year-old handed himself to Chatsworth police on Tuesday night, KwaZulu-Natal police Captain Thulani Zwane said in a statement today.

Police were called to the family’s home in Moorton on Monday night after relatives tried unsuccessfully to contact them and to get into their locked house.

Officers broke down the door. In one of the bedrooms they found the bodies of a 40-year-old woman and her two children, a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman. They had sustained multiple injuries.

Nothing appeared to have been stolen, as cellphones and other valuables were still there.

The man was expected to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
