ET murder accused ‘bearing up’

2010-04-14 10:46

The 15-year-old boy implicated in the murder of Eugene

Terre’Blanche was bearing up under the strain, his lawyer, Zola Majavu, said

outside the Ventersdorp Magistrate’s Court.

“My client is settling in well at the place of safety. He is

sleeping on a bed for the first time in his life, and having three meals a

day.”

Majavu said the minor came from a very poor background. He had not

even been able to afford a pair of shoes.

The boy and his co-accused, 28-year-old Chris Mahlangu, were due to

make their second appearance in court since AWB leader Terre’Blanche was found

dead on his farm on Easter Saturday.

They face charges of murder, house breaking and robbery with

aggravating circumstances, crimen injuria and attempted robbery with aggravating

circumstances.

Because of the alleged involvement of a minor, the trial would be

closed to the public. However, several media houses would apply for the trial to

be open, with the guarantee that the minor would not be named.
