Eastern Cape ANC leadership mostly unchanged

2013-06-29 09:27

The ANC in the Eastern Cape elected new leadership at its conference in Port Elizabeth, with four of the five previous leaders retaining their positions.

Oscar Mabuyane and finance MEC Phumulo Musualle remained in their positions of provincial secretary and chairman respectively, spokesman Pindile Miza said yesterday.

Helen August would continue as deputy secretary and Thandiswa Marawu as treasurer.

The only change to the top five positions in the ANC provincial executive committee was former Amathole District mayor Sakhumzi Somyo, who took the position of deputy chairman.

The conference began on Thursday at the Nelson Mandela Metro University.

Miza said elections for additional members were still continuing late yesterday afternoon.
