Ekurhuleni starts road-safety blitz

2011-04-21 09:03

Ekurhuleni mayor Mondli Gungubele will embark on an Easter road-safety blitz in Germiston today, the municipality said.

“Gungubele accompanied by community safety officials and the Ekurhuleni metro police will distribute road-safety messages among public transport operators, motorists and members of the public in Germiston,” Zweli Dlamini said in a statement.

“The blitz is aimed at curtailing road fatalities by emphasising the importance of observing road regulations and ensuring that unroadworthy vehicles are removed from the road.”

Hundreds of people were expected to take to the road on Friday on their way to various destinations around the country for the long weekend.
