Epitome of business class

2011-06-17 14:31

South Africa’s roads are fast being populated by giant roaring German machines. And it’s not surprising, seeing as the World Wealth Report estimated there were more than 48 000 millionaires in the country four years ago. Fast forward to this year and despite the world financial meltdown, that number has risen steadily.

Behind the tinted windows of the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S Classes and Audi A8s are some of the country’s captains of industries en route to work or to the next meeting.

South Africa’s elite insist on comfort and opulence. Take Patrice Motsepe who boasts a fleet of Mercedes-Benz wheels.

Though he sometimes drives the cars himself, his chauffeurs are often seen behind the steering of his SLS, GL, ML CLG3 AMG and the SL65 AMG.

And if you take a closer look at the cars mentioned or any other brands in the premium D-segment, you will notice that the rear of the cabin is more comfortable than the front, obviously built for passengers to curl up or put their feet up or even get down to business in-transit.

The new Mercedes-Benz S Class 350 BlueTEC and the BMW 6 Series Convertible are just two of the cars that fit the group ‘cream of the crop’.
