Acting Eskom CEO Collin Matjila has stepped down as CEO of investment company Kopano Ke Matla.

“The federation thanks him for all the work he has done for Kopano Ke Matla over many years and wishes him well in his new position,” Cosatu spokesperson Patrick Craven said today.

Kopano Ke Matla handles the trade federation’s investments.

Matjila assumed the Eskom acting CEO position yesterday, after the resignation of Brian Dames, who was at the helm of the power utility for almost four years.

Craven said Cosatu’s national office bearers were working to ensure a smooth management transition at Kopano Ke Matla.

“Collin Matjila has indicated his availability to deal with any outstanding issues at the company of concern to Cosatu,” he said.

The Eskom board said last week that once a permanent CEO had been appointed, Matjila would return to his position as a nonexecutive director of the board.
