An interim chief executive will be appointed at Eskom when current CEO Brian Dames steps down at the end of March.

“No, we have not found a replacement yet,” said spokesperson Andrew Etzinger.

“The process is under way. There will be an interim chief executive appointed [in the meantime] until a new CEO is found.”

In December, Dames said he was resigning because he needed to rest, according to a report by the Sunday Times.

“I just want to have a rest ... [The job] takes a lot out of you. Really, it never ends. I normally say to people that I just want a life,” Dames was quoted as saying at the time.

“I want to pay attention to my family. They have sacrificed a lot.”

Dames will step down on March 31 after 26 years at Eskom. He was appointed CEO on July 1 2010.
