Eskom to keep the lights on for now

2014-12-11 09:10

Power utility Eskom says no power cuts have been planned for the day.

“So far there is no plan to load shed,” the media desk said today.

Eskom, however, warned that things could change during the course of the day.

“As much as there is no plan for load shedding, any disturbances that may occur might lead to us load shedding.”

Eskom has been battling to keep the lights on since the collapse of one of its coal storage silos at the Majuba power station in Mpumalanga. Last weekend Eskom implemented stage three load shedding.

Stage one allows for up to 1 000MW of the national load to be shed, stage two for up to 2 000MW, and stage three for up to 4 000MW.
