Ex-cop arrested for renting police uniforms to criminals

2014-08-22 11:29

An ex-policeman was arrested in Soweto this morning for allegedly renting out police uniforms to criminals.

“We found police uniforms, blue lights, reflectors, name tags ... these were used to commit crimes,” said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela today.

“The man was renting these things to criminals.”

The 35-year-old was arrested after a raid on a house in Moletsane, Soweto.

“It is understood that he is a former policeman.

“It seems that after the criminals have done their jobs they share their loot with him,” said Makhubela.

A stolen Audi A4 was found at the scene.

The man, who was also suspected to have been involved in some of the crimes, would appear in court soon.
