Jet’s summer 2014 range has all the latest trends and looks, from sunshine brights to denim, at a price you can afford. Gugulethu Mhlungu checks it out

1. Pretty in white

When asked about summer colours, Jet womenswear trend consultant Liz Naude said: “White on white will become a firm favourite, while sunshine brights such as yellows, tangerines, oranges and reds – with a hint of pastel – complete the summer pallette.”

A touch of metallic, she adds, will transform a day look to a night-time look.

“It adds glamour to any ensemble, and offers great options for accessories and footwear.”

This maxi dress and shift dress are perfect ways to wear white day or night, smart or casual.

2. Denim does it

Naude says that Jet has catered for every silhouette this season.

“Denim never goes out of style, and the ease with which it is matched to any on-trend ensemble continues to make it an essential standard for any wardrobe.”

Jet plans to offer a variety of denim across all seasons. These faded dungarees are the perfect summer look. Denim jumpsuits are also a great item this season.

3. Mix and match

Matching separates and twin sets are another hot summer trend. Wearing a crop top-and-skirt combination is the easiest way to wear the season’s pastel colours, as well as animal, African and floral prints.

Simple to dress up or down, they can be worn with pumps, sandals, sneakers and heels. They also go well with the kimono jacket trend, which is also a must-have for the warmer months.

4. Fun and flirty

Boho festival and cowgirl styling round off casual wear. These are coupled with a dusting of 70s, folkloric embroidery, fringing and decorative embellishments.

“Items one shouldn’t do without this summer,” says Naude, “are jumpsuits, maxi skirts, camisoles, slip dresses and anything in lace.”

She says that femininity encapsulates summer this year.
