Kassav’ at Bassline

Newtown, Joburg

Sunday 26 April, 9.30pm

Tickets R100 from webtickets.co.za, or R250 at the door

With the scourge of xenophobia in our country, it’s more important than ever to embrace artists from other nations.

French supergroup Kassav’ are taking a detour from their tour of Mozambique to perform an exclusive show at Bassline in Joburg.

From the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Antilles, Kassav’ are known as the pioneers of a music genre called zouk.

It’s a funky fusion of tropical dance sounds from Africa and the Caribbean that is massively popular throughout Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and its diaspora.

Kassav’ have a large fan base in South Africa, but if you don’t know them, now is the time to check them out. There are only 1?000 tickets available.

The need for cultural cross-pollination is more important than ever and music has always been magical in its ability to unite.
