Film and Publication Board fires employees for porn movie theft

2014-09-23 12:15

Two men have been dismissed by the Film and Publication Board after they tried to steal an unclassified pornographic movie.

“Their case was finalised in August, and they were dismissed at the beginning of this month for trying to steal a copy of the film,” the organisation’s Sipho Risiba said today.

The board classifies all film material distributed in South Africa.

The two men were caught on a CCTV camera trying to steal a copy of the Venda movie Bush Pie 3. The film is yet to be released.

Risiba could not comment on whether the process to classify the film was completed and when it would be released to the public.

“I do not have information regarding that as I am currently not in the office,” he said.

Risiba referred queries to a legal officer for the board, a Mr Kekana. He refused to comment about the film or the employees’ case. He said he was not the organisation’s spokesperson and therefore Risiba should comment or ask him in writing to comment.

The Venda film, produced by Thohoyandou porn mogul Zwoluga Madega, reportedly drew criticism this year from religious leaders and the Venda community.

The film was shot in Manyuwa, Venda, and the cast wore traditional Venda attire.
