Film and TV awards on tonight

2010-02-20 12:17

Tonight the State Theatre in Pretoria will be buzzing with anxious

creatives and actors from the South African film and television industry.

The fourth Annual South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas)

will be taking place.

T.O.M Pictures has been nominated for a couple of awards including

Best Talk Show for Late Night with Kgomotso and Best Drama Series for A Place

Called Home.

Allison Forget-Deyes, the line producer for T.O.M, said: “We

expected to be nominated for A Place Called Home as it was a beautiful series.

We felt very deserving of the nominations.”

A Place Called Home has bagged a total of eight nominations. In the

category Best Drama Series it is competing with Sokhulu & Partners and The

Lab.

The late Mandla Thabethe, who died in an accident last month, has

been nominated Best Actor for his role as Bongo in Family Bonds.

The best soapie is decided by the public and therefore there are no

nominations in that category.

National Identity is the theme of this year’s event and the dress

code is “glamorous black tie”.

Those not attending can catch the live transmission on SABC 2 at

8pm.
