DJ Nore, a diverse-genre club DJ, has released a new mix tape titled Afrobeats Summer WorkOut Mix.

The hour-long playlist, released last week on the internet, features tracks by artists from across the continent.

The UK-based DJ has created a big following with his free mix tapes. He has also distributed more than 15?000 free CDs to listeners.

South Africa’s very own duo Mafikizolo, who put on a memorable performance in Los Angeles during the Black Entertainment Television Awards last week, are part of the stellar line-up.

A remix of their popular song Khona now bears a screeching synth feel, and Nigeria’s Davido features on the track Tchelete. Uhuru, Wizkid, DJs Cleo and Cndo are also in on the upbeat list.

The Afro-beat-laden mix does just what it is meant to do – get you active. Even if that activity is just moving your feet under your desk while you’re busy with that urgent report your boss wanted yesterday.

It is a pity there is no video to illustrate a gym session – with women in tight-fitting work-out regalia holding mini dumbbells and bare-chested men working their hard muscles as Africa’s beats play on.

Now that would have been perfect.
