Fourth time lucky for FS ANC?

The Free State ANC provincial conference, scheduled for this weekend, has been postponed yet again.

Sibongile Besani, ANC provincial secretary, said the conference was now going to take place on June 21.

The conference was initially scheduled to take place in May. It was then postponed to June 8 and later to June 16.

William Bulwane, spokesperson for the provincial chairperson and premier Ace Magashule, said last week the provincial conference would go ahead this weekend amid claims that it would be postponed because three regions – Motheo, Lejweleputswa and Thabo Mofutsanyana – had not as yet held their regional conferences.

But Bulwane now says the conference will be postponed.

He said the provincial executive committee was adamant that the provincial conference should still take place this month.

“The PEC made it clear that it wants the conference to take place before the National Policy Conference, scheduled from 26 to 29 June this year.”

Bulwane said the regional conferences should take place this weekend.

Besani confirmed that the Lejweleputswa region is going to hold its regional conference this week.

He said there are, however, still “some processes to be followed” before the Motheo regional conference can take place.
