Fuel price up 39c on Wednesday

2014-02-01 09:07

The price of all grades of petrol will increase by 39c, and all grades of diesel by 24.2c a litre on Wednesday, the energy department has said.

The price of illuminating paraffin would increase by between 12c/l and 16c/l, and the maximum retail price of LP gas will go up by 54c/l, the department said yesterday.

The increase was due to a slight rise in international petrol product prices.

“The average rand/US dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period,” the department said.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period December 27 2013 to January 30 2014 was R10.8 compared to R10.3 during the previous period.
