‘Gasa tried to rape me’

2013-04-23 13:26

Mbulelo Ntlauzana, the man accused of murdering businessman Nhlahla Gasa, first hit Gasa with a Jack Daniel's bottle and then stabbed him repeatedly in a bid to defend himself from being raped.

Ntlauzana (25), an unemployed waiter from Groutville, Stanger, made the claim in a guilty plea submitted to Durban’s U court today.

Ntlauzana told the court he had been befriended by Gasa, who had given him gifts of cash and a cellphone. He said Gasa had promised to mentor him in his business career.

However, on March 23, Gasa had attempted to have sex with him at Gasa’s luxury Windsor Drive mansion in Umhlanga. When he refused, Gasa allegedly attempted to force himself upon Ntlauzana.

Ntlauzana first hit Gasa with a Jack Daniels bottle. He then tried to escape but was cornered by the businessman, who allegedly told him he would kill him. Gasa also allegedly told him he would not leave the house that night.

Ntlauzana said he then grabbed a knife and repeatedly stabbed Gasa in a bid to flee. He realised he had killed Gasa, wrapped his body in a duvet and loaded it in Gasa’s Jaguar.

He said he then drove to the Tugela river where he dumped the body.

The court has adjourned and will resume this afternoon.

Ntlauzana also pleaded guilty to stealing Gasa’s car and burning it.
