Girl raped at school

2010-11-10 07:04

A 48-year-old school caretaker has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl at a school in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, police said today.

“She was raped at school,” Captain Mega Ndobe said.

“It is alleged that on Monday morning the 11-year-old girl reported the matter to a teacher who took her to her granny.
The girl was then taken to hospital where a doctor confirmed that she was raped,” he said.

The alleged rape happened at a primary school.

Ndobe said it was not clear where at the school it happened.

“The matter was reported to the police yesterday and the suspect, the 48-year-old school caretaker, was arrested yesterday. He is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court today,” said Ndobe.

On Monday, two school boys were arrested for allegedly raping a school girl at Jules High School in Jeppestown, Johannesburg, but charges against them were dropped yesterday, with the National Prosecuting Authority saying there was not enough evidence to charge them.
