Good and bad news for Bafana

2013-10-17 12:02

The South African Football Association (Safa) experienced mixed fortunes this morning.

While Bafana Bafana’s standing on the latest Fifa rankings have improved by seven places to 61, the bad news was that both ABSA and Puma have ended their sponsorship agreements with the association.

But Bafana remain the 12th best ranked team on the continent.

Bafana have been moving up and down the ladder because of their mixed results recently but their 1-1 draw away in Morocco worked in their favour as they moved from the 68th spot.

Ivory Coast, Ghana and Algeria are still leading the African group. The three countries are also on the verge of qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Spain are still leading the pack, followed by Germany and Argentina with the World Cup host Brazil occupying the 11th spot.
