Gospel dynamite aiming for gold

2009-11-21 13:25

GOSPEL music sensation Sifiso Ncwane is hoping to collect at least two accolades at the second annual SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) tonight.

The musician, who hails from Umtwalume on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, has been nominated in three categories: Best Gospel Artist, Best Gospel Song and Classic of All Times Worship.

“I feel confident that I will walk away with at least two awards,” he said on Thursday. “It is obvious that God does lift you up if you believe in him. I can’t believe that today I have been nominated among artists I grew up admiring.”

In the Best Gospel Artist category, where he is nominated for his song, Baba Ngiyabonga, Ncwane comes up against Sipho Makhabane (Ebenezer), Keke (Living in Harmony) and Benjamin Dube (In His Presence).

In the Best Gospel Song, where his song Baba Ngiyabonga is nominated again, Ncwane is pitted against the red-hot Solly Mahlangu (Obrigado), Keke (Che Che) and Dube (Nation Mourns June 16 Commemoration).

In the third category in which he features, Classic of All Times, his Umkhuleko Unamandla comes up against Worship House (Cast All Yo Burdens) and Eleck Mathebula (Makabongwe).
