Greed is killing our democracy

2011-12-10 13:49

Here I am again responding to more brilliant articles in last Sunday’s edition of my favourite read, City Press.

Let me start with Mathatha Tsedu’s “Justice Betrayed” article. A very good lesson in liberation consciousness, especially for one juvenile, Julius Malema.

But I must say a lesson too for a large number of MPs sitting on the governing benches, who profess to know our struggle history, yet are ignorant of the facts.

Let me tell you briefly why I am so passionate about this country; I grew up in Soweto. My father worked for the then Railways and we lived
at No 4, Railway house in Orlando.

This informed my “natural” consciousness and love for our people.

As a white boy, I grew up seeing black folks being shot at, arrested, incarcerated and abused. Now, all what you and I fought for is being trampled underfoot by greedy and power-besotted zealots who are raping our freedom!

I say this without fear of being proven wrong; the bells of justice are tolling loud. The time of zealots is almost here and the prisons will fill with these corrupt thiefs and abusive government elites!

A new generation of honest and decent politicians are patiently awaiting their turn to live Madiba’s dream of a free and united South Africa.
