Guess launches in glitzy style

2011-07-08 11:43

The who’s who of Jozi descended on Braamfontein’s Shine Studios, where Guess was launching their summer/spring clothing collection – which they hosted along with Glamour and GQ Magazine.

In a form of a fashion show, guests were seated in rows on white chairs which sort of reminded me of the New York Fashion show as we see it on magazines.

There was youngest of the Bala Brothers Phelo, TV personality Claire Mawisa, PR guru Farah Fortune, actor Jafta Mamabolo, former Face of Africa Kaone Kario YFM twins Hlelo and Ntando Masina, former Miss SA teen Zizo Bheda and Shift presenter Mzwandile Ngubeni.

It was also great bumping into the Booths – former model Sonia and her soccer player hubby Matthew, hadn’t seen then in months since SA Fashion Week to be precise.

For performances, I listened to rock band The Muses and Prime Circle perform while DJ Euphonik was on the decks for the remainder of the night.

After the hour-long show of seeing beautiful denims and accessories by the brand, Guess unleashed their spending ability as guests were treated to snacks and a bar that catered some of the finest whiskeys and wines in town.

In that time I got to chat to Hlelo who made me speak on camera about what I thought about them for their own reality show – I think.

I Also chatted to former child star and YOTV presenter Selae Thobakgale, who I must say has grown beautifully.

She told me about her working behind the scenes writing for MTV Africa and how she’s running her own business that has a lot to do with the media.

I must admit it was a rather fab party that was in a chic venue, surrounded by beautifully lit Joburg CBD, pity about the shameful walk up the two flights of stairs that revealed I was rather unhealthy as I huffed and puffed into the event.
