Ziphozakhe Zokufa will wear the Miss South Africa crown for just three months, but she’s hoping to use her time well.

Zokufa (23) has spent most of this year as first princess to Rolene Strauss, but stepped out of Strauss’ shadow at Sandton’s Maslow Hotel yesterday.

Strauss was crowned Miss World over the weekend, so Zokufa – who has spent her time as heiress to the pageant throne travelling and modelling overseas – assumes her responsibilities here at home.

Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile Mbalula and local celebrities such as Bonang Matheba, Anele Mdoda and Sizwe Dhlomo were on hand to celebrate Zokufa’s ascension to the throne.

Strauss’ win was widely predicted, but Eastern Cape beauty Zokufa was still overwhelmed by her new role.

“I have a support team that is there for me. In the past couple of days everyone has been immensely supportive and helpful. Yes, it is going to be a lot of hard work and time is limited but I am going to make the most of the time that I have,” said the young musician.

“Youth development is something that I am passionate about. I want to go out there and help the youth utilise the opportunities that are awarded to them.”
