Mother City takes centre stage as Hollywood stars hit Woodstock and cause a stir

Cape Town, prepare to start crushing: Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame is in town.

He’s a trendy crush to have?–?this week, former supermodel and actress Liz Hurley admitted she was smitten with the 35-year-old actor, who played Jesse Pinkman in the award-winning TV drama series.

On Tuesday, Hurley wrote on Twitter: “Is it wrong to have a crush on Jesse? I don’t want to leave the house?–?I only want to stay home and watch Breaking Bad. Can’t believe I waited so long...” she posted.

Despite her famous beauty, Hurley probably doesn’t stand a chance?–?Paul has been enjoying Cape Town with his wife, Lauren, and the two have been photographed looking loved-up all over the Mother City.

He’s in town to shoot his latest movie, Eye in the Sky, but has found plenty of time to explore the best the city has to offer.

Earlier this month, he tucked into a meal at Woodstock’s uberposh The Test Kitchen, declaring it “one of the best meals” of his life.

He’s in good company: chef and owner Luke Dale Roberts’ pricy spot (the restaurant’s nine-course menu costs R1?250 paired with wine and R1?000 with tea) was rated the best in Africa at a glittering ceremony in London earlier this year.

Other celebrities who have been to The Test Kitchen include Charlize Theron and her Hollywood beau, Sean Penn.

Paul’s not the only star of Eye in the Sky who’s been hanging out in Woodstock.

His co-star, British legend Dame Helen Mirren, has been spotted having sandwiches at The Old Biscuit Mill, which is also home to Luke Dale Roberts’ restaurant.

Mirren stayed over at the Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve in the Cederberg Mountains this week.

“We had the pleasure and honour of hosting Dame Helen Mirren for two nights this past week. The team were in absolute awe and loved meeting the multi-award-winning actress,” said a resort spokesperson.

The 69-year-old actress has a body double who’s 39 years younger than her, the Daily Mail reported this week.

Fleur van Eeden, who stands in for Mirren in a few scenes in the Gavin Hood-helmed project, raved about the Oscar winner, saying: “No way does she look her age?–?she looks amazing. I want to look like that when I’m 69.”
