Idols’ Gwegwe ‘to open for Ne-Yo’

Former South African Idols contestant Simphiwe Gwegwe will apparently be the opening act on Ne-Yo’s tour in the UK this month.

The musician broke the news on his Facebook and Twitter accounts today, saying he wanted to share a secret he had kept from his fans.

He shared the news after receiving confirmation, he wrote on Facebook.

“Ur boi SIMPHIWE GWEGWE is flying to Dubai on way to the UK for 2 weeks.. opening act for NEYO. Yes you heard right!!”

The tour will be from March 6 to 15, according to Ne-Yo’s official website.

Gwegwe took part in the 2012 M-Net Idols competition.

The Northern Cape singer managed to reach the competition’s top 5.

He could not immediately be reached for comment.
