Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund and midfielder Thulani Serero have buried the hatchet.

The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder has been included in the 23-man squad that will play Brazil on March 5 at the FNB Stadium in Joburg.

This is the first time the 23-year-old has made the team since his fallout with the coach in September last year. Serero was kicked out of the Bafana camp before Bafana’s final 2014 World Cup qualifier against Botswana in Durban.

Igesund said he has had numerous telephonic discussions with Serero and he was happy to have him back in the team.

“He is happy and excited to be back and we must look forward now. We are all looking forward to the Brazil game,” said Igesund.

He believes he has selected a team capable of surprising the five-time world champions.

“It is a privilege to play Brazil and we will give a good account of ourselves. It is a good opportunity for the players to test themselves against the world stars and they must enjoy themselves.

“It is not every day that one gets to play against five-time world champions. This is a great opportunity for us to continue from where we left off against Spain last year. We played Brazil in São Paulo and narrowly lost 1-0. They are the hosts of the 2014 World Cup, so they will definitely be taking this match seriously as you can see from the squad they have selected.

“I also have a lot of confidence in the squad I have selected and I believe we will be very competitive on the night. This should be a very good challenge for the players.”

Igesund has gone for the tried and tested players with Platinum Stars winger Lindokuhle Mbatha being rewarded for his good showing at the African Nations Championship.
