Gauteng police are investigating the death of a man, who was assaulted by a mob, after a hit-and-run in which three children died in Roodepoort.

“No arrests have been made and we are still following up on all the information received,” the police’s Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela has said. “Investigations continue.”

Yesterday, a man, in his 30s, was assaulted by community members after two boys and a girl died when his car hit them, Johannesburg emergency services said.

Spokesperson Synock Matobako said two of the children were aged six and the other was seven years old. A five-year-old child and a woman were taken to hospital.

Two men, who were with the man who was killed by the mob, ran away.
