Isidingo not getting cancelled

2012-11-02 14:49

Despite tabloid rumours, Isidingo, the successful and long-running weekday soapie on SABC3, is definitely not getting cancelled, the SABC has confirmed.

While downmarket gossip outlets foam at the mouth with premature and inaccurate rumours of Isidingo’s demise, the truth is that the show will see at least another two seasons on SABC3.

The SABC says that the popular weekday soap is in fact getting another 520 episode order soon.

Responding to a media enquiry, the SABC says that the public broadcaster has in fact already approved negotiations with Endemol South Africa which produces the show.

This year, Isidingo production suffered a major setback when a fire burnt down the main set, forcing production to shut down for a number of weeks.

The show went into an emergency outside broadcast production schedule for a few weeks.

“We would like to allay the fears and confirm that Isidingo has not been cancelled or being taken off air,” the SABC says.

The new seasons would mark the 16th and 17th year that the soap has been on the air.

Isidingo airs Mondays to Fridays on SABC3 at 7.30pm.
