Jilted husband sells his side of the bed on Gumtree

2013-08-14 16:23

Hell, the old adage reminds us, hath no fury like a woman scorned.

But a Cape Town man is turning that notion on its head by selling his half of the marital bed on classifieds website Gumtree – apparently to get revenge on his unfaithful ex-wife.

The advert, sorted into the category “Beds”, was posted yesterday.

It begins: “Well used ½ bed!!!!!!”

“I’m moving and selling my side of the bed. Well-used, but some of that egg-carton foam would probibly (sic) fix it right up.

“My brand new ex-wife still owns the other sideof (sic) the bed but don’t worry, she doesn’t seem to mind sharing it with complete strangers.”

The ad’s author continues: “BONUS: This bed is ALWAYS warm due to it never going more than a few hours without someone being in it! This comes in especially hand if you’re away working hard to make enough to cover the bond payments.”

He concludes: “NOTE: Apparently there’s been like 3 different guys that may be able to claim squatters’ rights on my side of the bed since they spent more time in it than I did. Not sure what the rules are on that.

“Send me an offer if you are interested.”

The cellphone number accompanying the ad went straight to voicemail this afternoon – an automated message which declared “this person’s mailbox is full”.
