Adults and children have a new place to play and get high on sugar. It’s the new Oreo pop-up café at The Zone@Rosebank. The store was launched on Wednesday night and guests were given the opportunity to play and eat as many Oreos as they desired.

The pop-up café is part of Oreo’s new global campaign to encourage play and fun. Guests were treated to Amarula, espresso and Oreo cocktails, and then given the chance to pick their favourite treat from the cookie conveyor belt which showcased the extensive treat menu.

Lovers of the world’s favourite cookie can choose from popcorn stacks, white chocolate fudge, cookie monster cupcakes, chocolate truffles, cookie-crumb parfait, white chocolate cheesecake, shortbread sandwiches with Magnum ice cream, sundaes and a good old glass of milk with an Oreo cookie.

Prices start from as little as R10 and the most expensive item on the menu is R40, so the experience is well priced. You can create Oreo selfie art while you nibble, create your own cookie character with edible props, and take a picture in one of three mini photo studios.

There’s also an adult-sized Oreo seesaw and swing, and the chance to buy boxes of Oreos and Oreo merchandise.

The venue felt a bit cramped for the number of guests invited, but that’s to be expected when they’re all there at the same time.

For now, the pop-up café will only be in Joburg (sorry Cape Town) until May 3. It opens from 10am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday, and you can expect to see long queues of kids and adults waiting for their turn to play.
