Jub Jub closing arguments postponed

2012-07-17 11:02

The defence’s closing arguments in the murder trial of musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and co-accused Themba Tshabalala have been postponed.

The proceedings in the Protea Magistrates’ Court will resume tomorrow.

Ike Motloung, for Maarohanye, completed his closing arguments late yesterday.

Mlungiseleli Sovithi, for Tshabalala, would present his arguments tomorrow.

Motloung argued that Maarohanye’s trial had been unfair and prejudicial.

He questioned the testimony of most of the State witnesses.

Maarohanye and Tshabalala are facing charges of murder, reckless or negligent driving, and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The two were allegedly drag-racing on Mdlalose Street, Protea north, in March 2010, when they crashed into a group of school children.
Four boys were killed and two seriously injured.
