Jub Jub crash trial delayed

2011-03-22 08:54

The murder trial of musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and his co-accused Themba Tshabalala was delayed in the Protea Magistrates Court today.

The trial, which has been characterised by late coming of either the accused or some court officials was this time delayed by defence attorney Ike Motloung’s late arrival.

A 17-year-old witness was expected to continue to testify in camera after two other witnesses testified last week.

Nono Mabote and Maki Ndlovu testified that Maarohanye and Tshabalala were dragracing when their Mini Coopers ploughed into a group of school children on Mdlalose Drive in Protea North on March 8 last year.

Four children were killed in the accident and two others suffered severe injuries that included brain damage.

Maarohanya and Tshabalala were also facing charges of attempted murder as well as reckless and negligent driving.
