Kelly Khumalo has spoken out about the assault claims made by the maskandi musician and herbalist who is believed to be her boyfriend, Zamokwakhe 'Bhaka' Nzama.

Khumalo apparently poked Nzama's left eye with a nail during an altercation that took place at Elangeni Hotel, just a few hours before The Metro FM Music Awards kicked off at Durban's ICC. Nzama told City Press on Saturday that Khumalo had demanded that he leaves his wife Jabu if he wants to marry her.

Responding to an e-mail City Press sent to her today after she didn't respond to text messages on Saturday night, Khumalo said: "First and foremost, that man is not my partner. We just had a brief fling that turned sour."

Khumalo then denied asking Nzama to leave his wife. "I poked him by accident as I was trying to push him away from me. He was the one who attacked me when I asked him to leave the room and he refused," she said.

Khumalo last week said she had "booted" Nzama after she found out about the string of women he is seeing and sleeping around with.

"He came to my hotel to smooth things over by offering to borrow me his car for the Metro FM Awards," she said.

She said all hell broke loose when she asked him to take his keys and leave her alone. The mother of two said as she was doing her make-up in the bathroom, Nzama told her she "looked beautiful and different".

"He tried to touch my bum and that didn't sit well with me. I told him to leave me alone and he said I was rude," she said.

She said she could see that he came there looking for trouble and he was unsettled and didn't like the fact that she looked beautiful and that she didn't want to do anything with him anymore.

"He started to be more violent and everyone was uncomfortable around him. He swore at me, and called my mother names. He pushed me against the wall and said he would shoot me and put me next to Senzo's body," she said.

Khumalo said when she tried to push Nzama away, she accidentally poked him in the eye. "He knows I hate guns since Senzo's death and he uses that to threaten me."

She said she managed to run away and rushed quickly to one of her friend's room. One of Universal Music officials managed to tell Nzama and his bodyguards to leave, she said.

"Earlier last week, I had told that man I don't wanna see him anymore because I don't even like him as a person," said Khumalo. "I'm still in love with Senzo - I can't pretend."

"He tried to contact me but I have asked him to leave me alone as I have nothing to say to him or offer. The man is a publicity junky and would do anything to get publicity," she said.

Khumalo added that she can't continue something that never began.  It was just a fling that got sour, that's all... nothing significant," she added.  As for lobola, Khumalo said she can't comment on something she knows nothing about.
