Kyalami to host motor racing bonanza

THE international Superstars series for V8 production cars, as well

as four top local circuit racing categories awaits fans at Kyalami Grand Prix

Circuit on December 12 and 13.

Track activities start on Saturday 12th at 9h10 with practice for

Superkarts, Goldwagen Volkswagen Challenge, Forza Ferrari Challenge and WesBank

V8s, followed by free practice for the Superstars from 11h00 to 11h30. This will

be followed by qualifying for Superkarts, Goldwagen Volkswagen Challenge, Forza

Ferrari Challenge and WesBank V8s.

Racing will start at 13h35 with the first of two Superkarts races,

followed at 14h05 by the first WesBank V8 race. Superstars’ qualifying is at

15h00 until 15h30 with the first Forza Ferrari Challenge race at 15h35 and a

Goldwagen Volkswagen Challenge race at 16h05.

There will also be a parade of Neo Africa Supercars in the morning

and afternoon as well as two Speed and Sound drifting demonstrations.

Sunday’s programme starts at 10h00 with the second Superkarts race,

followed by a Neo Africa supercars parade and the day’s first pit walk from

10h35 to 10h55. Tickets for the pit walk can be obtained from Computicket at R20

each.

The first of the two 25-minute plus one lap international

Superstars races gets underway at 11h30 with the second Goldwagen Volkswagen

Challenge race at 12h15. During the lunch break from 12h40 until 13h25 there

will be parades, a Speed and Sound drifting demonstration and a second pit walk

from 12h50 until 13h10.

The afternoon’s race programme will resume with the second Forza

Ferrari Challenge race at 13h30, followed by the second outing of the WesBank

V8s. The second international Superstars race will start at 15h00 and the day’s

entertainment will end with a final Speed and Sound drifting demonstration and

parade of Neo Africa supercars.

The Kyalami skidpan in the centre of the circuit will be the venue

for Sunday afternoon and evening’s DJ Festival starting at 12 noon with Oskido

and Zinhle from Yfm (who will be broadcasting from the circuit on race day) and

finishing at 19h15 with Erica Elle from 5fm. Other DJs and performers featured

include Yfm’s DJ Sbu, 5fm’s DJ Fresh and Sasha Martinengo, Sergio Marques and

Arno Carstens.

Parking will be available at Kyalami as per national race meetings

and while spectators will be able to bring their own food and drinks, no glass

bottles or braais will be allowed.

Grandstand and general admission tickets can be obtained from

branches of Computicket around the country.
