It’s win or bust for Black Leopards as a defeat against Milano United tonight will end their ambitions of promotion to the Absa Premiership.

The penultimate fixture will take place at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town tonight and the game kicks off at 7.30pm.

The odds are stacked against Leopards judging from their previous results in the Mother City.

They have won only two out of five matches in the Mother City in the past season. They beat FC Cape Town and Vasco da Gama, drew with Santos and lost to Chippa United and Milano.

However, Leopards have already beaten Milano at home in their first playoff game a fortnight ago, but after losing to top-of-the-log Polokwane City, they need nothing less than a victory to remain in the promotion race.

The permutations still favour City, who are leading the promotion race with seven points from three matches, as they need just a point in their final fixture against Leopards at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday.

This is if their provincial rivals beat Milano tonight to get to six points. A failure to do so will mean that City will retain their Premiership status with a game to spare.

With just a single point from three games, Milano are out of contention as their 2-0 defeat to City last Sunday reduced the playoffs to an all-Limpopo affair.

The current standings mean that the far north province will still have a representative in the elite league next season.

Leopards were relegated at the end of the 2012/13 season while City were demoted to the playoffs after they finished 15th in their maiden season in the Premiership.

» Tonight’s playoff will be broadcast on SABC and SS4 from 7pm.
