Limpopo teen stabbed to death over glove

2013-10-12 15:37

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death during an argument, apparently over a cut-off glove, in Polokwane, Limpopo.

On Friday afternoon, police were called to a school where they found the teenager’s body lying in a pool of blood, Captain Ntobeng Phala said today.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a function was going to take place at the school this evening and that groups of boys from neighbouring areas had gathered there ahead of the event.

A 16-year-old boy from one group approached the 15-year-old, who was wearing a cut-off glove, and demanded the glove from him.

The boys began arguing and the 16-year-old allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the younger boy in the chest.

The boys’ respective groups started fighting and the 16-year-old was stabbed in the face and on his body.

The 16-year-old was treated for his injuries and was being kept in a place of safety on Saturday.

He would appear in court soon to be charged with murder.

Phala said police were investigating whether the crime was gang related.
