South African pop diva Lira has graced the cover of many local and international magazines, red carpets and stages. Her fashion-fit frame is a dream for stylists and editors to dress. This week Lira shares with City Press her tips for getting and keeping a photoshoot-ready body and, it seems, it doesn’t need to be all blood, sweat and tears.

The songstress’ diet isn’t laden with heavy, saturated fats: “I start the day with a smoothie packed with Spirulina, super foods and Base Powder. Then I have a bowl of organic gluten-free oats for breakfast. My meals are predominately green and leafy. I eat fish mostly and maybe once a month I’ll have lamb. I snack on fruit and nuts in between meals and I try to keep hydrated with water but I do prefer my Bos ice tea.”

Surely she does heavy training to stay toned and fit? Apparently not. Lira recommends keeping things fun so you stay motivated: “I don’t like gym but I love dancing and I can do it for hours – I love Somizi’s Kwaitone dance workout DVD. I also enjoy Kundalini yoga and taking brisk walks in the morning.”

With a slew of shows coming up this year it looks like it’s going to be another big one for Lira. Anything exciting in the pipeline? “I’m in studio finalising my sixth album. I’m very excited.”
