A storm has erupted around Heath’s head after he told City Press in a wide-ranging interview, published on Sunday, he believed former president Thabo Mbeki had initiated rape and corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma.

This morning Mbeki rejected the “defamatory and malicious” allegations made against him by Heath.

The Thabo Mbeki Foundation has written to government, asking for “evidence of all the allegations made by advocate Heath”.

This morning Heath told Talk Radio 702: “I don’t accept responsibility for the full (City Press) report.”
