Load shedding highly likely – Eskom

2014-06-19 11:20

The national power grid will remain tight today, says Eskom.

“Tonight we are expecting the same as last night ... a tight balance, a very low reserve margin,” spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said.

“The balance between supply and demand will be challenged.”

He said deliberate power cuts were highly likely but not definite. This would depend on circumstances.

“Closer to the time, we will know if we need to do load shedding.”

Constrained conditions were expected between 5.30pm and 6.30pm after which demand drops.

The power utility declared a power emergency last night.
