North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo, who has been re-elected as ANC provincial chairperson, wants to write and sign an undated resignation letter and keep it ready in case he does anything wrong.

If he gets his way, Mahumapelo intends to keep those serving under him on their toes as well. He will also get his MECs to sign the same letters and prepare themselves to leave public office if found to have derailed and wronged the ANC and the people of South Africa.

Mahumapelo said he was going to propose it to the ANC provincial conference currently under way in the North West to get him and his executive in government to ready themselves to be fired if they step out of line.

He said he was ready to lead the pack and sign his resignation letter first thing tomorrow should the conference adopt this suggestion.

“This is a way of instilling discipline. That letter must be written and signed with the space for the date to be filled at the time when the ANC decides to haul any of us before disciplinary processes.

“We’ll keep the letter and shred it in five years if the executive did not do anything wrong. A new resignation letter will be written and signed at the beginning of a new term,” he said.
