Malema hearing postponed

2011-11-02 13:01

Closing arguments in ANC Youth League president Julius Malema’s disciplinary hearing, by the party’s main body, have been rescheduled.

“It has been postponed until Saturday, that is by two days, for everyone’s convenience,” disciplinary committee chairman Derek Hanekom said today.

“We will still announce our ruling on all four cases next week,” he texted in reply to a question. Closing arguments were originally scheduled for tomorrow.

The ANC has charged Malema with bringing the party into disrepute and sowing division within party ranks.

He recently said the youth league would send a team to Botswana to consolidate local opposition parties and help bring about regime change.

Also charged are youth league spokesperson Floyd Shivambu, deputy president Ronald Lamola, treasurer-general Pule Mabe, secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa and deputy secretary-general Kenetswe Mosenogi.
