Malema to meet Jansen over Reitz four

2009-10-29 11:54

THE ANCYL delegation led by Julius Malema was set to meet the University of the Free State rector Jonathan Jansen on Thursday to discuss the Reitz Four issue.

Last week Jansen announced that the university would pardon the students and allow their return to the campus if they wanted to.

His statement drew a lot of criticism and even calls for him to resign.

“The ANC Youth League is meeting Jonathan Jansen to discuss his recent decision to drop charges against the racist students and allow some of them back into the university,” the league said in a statement.

RC Malherbe, Johnny Roberts, Schalk van der Merwe and Danie Grobler are accused of racial behaviour after they allegedly filmed a video in which black employees at the university were shown taking part in a mock initiation and eating food which apparently had been urinated on.

Malema would be accompanied by treasurer general Pule Mabe, spokesman Floyd Shivambu and Free State chairman Thabo Meeko to a meeting.

The quarted still faced crimen injuria charges in court.
