Man arrested for Eldorado woman’s brutal murder

2014-04-03 14:29

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman who was found dead at a school in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg.

The 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.

The Star named the woman as Christell Pienaar (30). She had five children. Her body was discovered on the Silver Oaks School’s overgrown cricket pitch in Eldorado Park, Extension four, by a passer-by yesterday. She had been stabbed and her pants had been pulled halfway down her legs.

At the time, Makhubela said five men who were last seen with the woman on Tuesday had been taken in for questioning.

“The brutal murder and rape of this young woman shows that we still have a long way to go in defeating the monster of drug abuse that is affecting the Eldorado Park community,” Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said yesterday.

The man is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
